Thanks For Finally Arriving, Spring!

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for – the first day of Spring! The best part about today is that it is supposed to actually feel like Spring.

I’m hoping that the fact that this happened on Tuesday will soon seem like a distant memory…

My workouts have been all over the place this week – one day a 45-minute ride on the bike trainer, another a short treadmill run, another a Jillian Michaels video in the basement. My arms are still jelly from that.

And speaking of “jelly”, I had such passionate responses to my Facebook question about gym vs. wine the other night! Who knew it would spark such a heated debate? After a perfectly horrendous bedtime with my 4.5 year old, I chose the basement workout as a compromise solution, then had the wine right after. That’s a form of liquid hydration after a hard circuit workout, right?

I had to drink it from a jelly jar since my arms were shaking from the workout and it was too challenging to lift a regular wine glass to my lips.

Yesterday was a long day – when the day starts out with a kid wetting the bed and me breaking a glass, you know it’s going to be a whopper of a day. Then last night I had to work an event at work, and I had the au pair scheduled until 10pm. I was walking out of my office just before 9pm, so I hit the gym for a super-quick run on the treadmill.

I ran 25 minutes total, and I won’t lie – it wasn’t fun. I was tired, dehydrated, and feeling kind of uncomfortable (in my midsection) from having dinner first. I put it on the hill setting with a brisk pace, and ended up red-faced and sweaty. But something is better than nothing when it comes to a run.

I am SO looking forward to the nicer weather and getting into a great routine of running outside in the mornings.

I realized I hadn’t posted my 2014 race schedule on the blog, and the main reason was because I am still not registered for my “A Race” – a little thing called a half Ironman. Oh, that little thing… I have to push the button before it sells out but I’ve been financially recovering from the Disney racecation before shelling out the cash for the big race.

In the meantime, I will say that I have three half marathons (and a 10K or two) coming up in the next couple of months! The first is the Seashore Classic Half Marathon in Lewes, Delaware on April 13, followed by the Frederick Half Marathon (in MD) on May 3, and the ZOOMA Annapolis Half Marathon on May 31. Looks like I’ll be able to qualify for Half Fanatic by ZOOMA!

[Remember you can use my code ANNAMB5 for 10% off the ZOOMA half marathon or 10K]

Bring it on, Spring!
